« Back to Central Vietnam - January 2005
At the Cham Museum, Mr. Công drew a map for us showing the territory and movement of the Cham, Khmer, and Vietnamese. He pointed at that in their building, the Cham used brick, the Khmer used stone, and the Vietnamese used wood. In his map, he likened the territorial movement to Boston (where things started in Northern Vietnam), the Louisiana Purchase (where the Vietnamese take territory from the Cham in Central Vietnam), and Los Angeles (the West or Southern Vietnam).
The Cham were pushed further to the South. Now there are only 80,000 to 100,000 Cham people in an area in Southern Vietnam. Basically their kingdom was swallowed by the Vietnamese.
